Initial Treatment
As water quality varies from place to place we recommend an initial three-day protocol to remove contaminants from your water before using your spa:
On Day 1 Drain, clean and refill spa pool. Add 1L Silver Cove to your spa, followed by 500 ml on Day 2 and 500 ml again on Day 3 while running the pool for a minimum of 6 hours per day) and cleaning the filters each day. The spa pool water should be clear and odourless. (In rare cases, it may be necessary to add further 100 ml increments).
The filter needs to be hosed off and left to soak in filter sanitiser /degreaser overnight on each of the 3 days.(Poolwise makes a natural, plant-based filter degreaser). Drying off in the sun is also very beneficial.
Once a week thereafter, add 1⁄2 litre (500 ml) per 1000 litres of pool water to be sanitized.
At any sign of decreased water clarity/quality, when spa is under heavy usage, has long exposure to direct sunlight or is contaminated with suntan lotions, sunscreens, etc, increase weekly water treatment amount by 100 ml increments until clear.

Will using Silver Cove in my spa pool require a good deal of pool maintenance?
A great advantage of Silver Cove is the easy, low maintenance usage. PH of your water does not affect the efficacy of the product.
Do I need to keep my spa pool at a certain temperature in order for Silver Cove to work?
No. Silver Cove is not temperature sensitive so this is not a concern; however, do keep your spa pool covered when not in use.
Does my pump need to be operating in order for Silver Cove to be effective?
Silver Cove will save you money and energy as it does not require continual pump usage to keep water circulating. At least an hour a day is advisable and during and after using your spa pool. The filter pump should also be running for 20 minutes or so after adding Silver Cove.
What do I need to do in order to get optimal results when using this type of product?
Because Silver Cove and similar, natural products do not contain harsh chemical
disinfectants, a more precautionary approach to controlling pool usage is advised.
Common sense guidelines to maintaining healthy, high level water quality involve:
- having all pool users shower before using pool
- making sure sunscreens, tanning lotions etc do not contaminate pool water
- keeping pool covered when not in use
A clean filter is really important. Clean at least once a week (depending on frequency of
pool use) If the filter is clean, the water should be clean.
How to clean your filter:
It is recommended that filters are washed using a garden hose working from the top down. Using a filter wand will take less time, do a better job and the chance of damaging the filters is reduced. Do not use a high pressure hose, pressure washer or stiff brush. Soak the cartridge for at least an hour (overnight is preferable) in an approved filter cleaner solution.
It is advisable to rotate two filters which will prolong the life of your spa filter considerably. One filter can soak in filter cleaner while the other filter is in service.
Micron spa filters are preferable. Micron filters are either used alone or in conjunction with pleated filters. Micron filters use a different "spun" style of filter media and typically are good to 5 microns so they are ideal for clarifying water
How important is changing the spa pool water?
Depending on level and type of usage, (as with any type of sanitizer) periodic draining, cleaning and reinitiating the product’s protocol is recommended to ensure consistent spa water quality.
What if the spa water becomes less clear?
At any sign of decreased water clarity/quality or when spa is under heavy usage or has long exposure to direct sunlight, increase weekly treatment amount by 100 ml increments until clear. Make sure that the filter has been cleaned/degreased.
Oxygen Shock (from SpaWise) is compatible with this product and may be used occasionally if desired.

I am happy to give feedback about Silver Cove. It has been a fantastic product to use in our spa. My daughter has very sensitive skin so I am cautious about what we expose her to. We have tried another "natural" spa sanitiser previously and been very disappointed with its performance- cloudy water, bad smells, still having to test the water. So when we found Silver Cove we were excited to try it. It has proven to be an excellent product. Just the small weekly top up keeps our spa clean and clear. I have done an occasional shock treatment for excess solids in the spa but Silver Cove has been the main treatment we use. No more silly water testing for ph and hardness- hooray!!! Life is too short! My daughter's skin has no adverse reactions and even seemed to calm down since we have been using Silver Cove (though this may not be the only factor of course).

I had tried every type of chemical or non chemical option available for spa pool treatment but no matter what I used I would end up with dry itchy skin. Hugely frustrating when you are a person who loves a spa at the end of the day. Your product is fantastic. No skin problems and a sparkling clear spa every day. In short I love your product.
